Seminar - Bhikkhunis in Buddhism: The Lost Feminine

An afternoon seminar with the Venerable Dhammananda Bhikkhuni is being organized for Saturday 13th December 2008 at University of Sydney. 

The seminar Bhikkhunis in Buddhism: The Lost Feminine  is provisionally scheduled for 2.00pm - 6.00 pm.  Those interested in presenting short papers or being involved in organizing this event please contact:

Venerable Dhammananda Bhikkhuni
Dr Chatsumarn Kabilsingh (Venerable Dhammananda Bhikkhuni)  holds an MA in Religious Studies from McMaster University and a PhD in Buddhist Studies from Magadh University. She has spent 30 years teaching at McMaster University and Thammasat University.

In 2001 she received ordination in Sri Lanka.  Venerable Dhammananda Bhikkhuni is now abbot of Songdhammakalyani Monastery, the only monastery for Bhikkhunis (female monastics) in Thailand. She is also the first Theravada Bhikkhuni in Thailand
