AABS 2009 Conference - Abstracts and Papers

Dear list members,

We are pleased to report that there has been significant interest in the upcoming 2009 AABS conference, Buddhist Studies: Australasian Contributions to be held on Thursday 10th and Friday 11th December at the University of Sydney.

Our Keynote speakers will be Prof Geoffrey Samuel and Prof Adrian Snodgrass.  To date we have 24 presenters from Australia, New Zealand and the US.

A list of panels and presenters will be available on the AABS website shortly.

Please submit a 2000 word summary, or the full paper, by 15 November 2009.

Papers will be posted on the AABS website and made available to the conference participants.

Selected papers will be offered to an A-ranked Journal for a special edition on Buddhist Studies in Australasia.

Postgraduate Prizes

AABS will offer up to 3 post graduate sponsorships of $500 each to assist interstate or NZ based post graduate students with travel and accommodation expenses. 

Sponsorship will be awarded competitively based upon the submission of draft paper.  Candidates must submit full papers by 15 November. The AABS Executive committee will assess the applications over the following 2 weeks.  The winners will be notified by 1 December.

Conference Details
Venue: University of Sydney (The Refectory, Main Quadrangle)
Date: Thursday 10th and Friday 11th December 2009

Morning tea and lunch will be provided for both days. Dinner at neighborhood restaurants will be organized on both evenings.
