Lecturer in South Asian and Indo-Tibetan Buddhist Studies
Applications are invited for appointment to a fixed term (one year, with possibility of extension to three years subject to funding) contract position of Lecturer in South Asian and Indo-Tibetan Buddhist Studies in the School of Languages and Cultures in the Faculty of Arts. The successful applicant will contribute to the Sanskrit and Buddhist, Indian and Asian Studies programs. The position involves teaching and supervision in undergraduate, honours and masters coursework programs as well as supervision of research degree candidates.
Minimum requirements are: PhD in South Asian Buddhism and/or Indo-Tibetan Buddhism; experience in teaching Sanskrit at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; experience in, and commitment to, teaching using Sanskrit and Tibetan language materials at both undergraduate and postgraduate level; experience in teaching Classical Indian and Buddhist thought at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; experience in taking responsibility for and coordinating units of study in Indian and Buddhist studies; experience in research and publication in South Asian and/or Buddhist Studies; capacity to teach and supervise students from various cultural backgrounds; ability and willingness to contribute to School and Faculty administrative activities.
The position is available from 16/2/2009. It is a full-time position for 1 year, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation and/or confirmation period with the possibility of extension to 3 years subject to funding.

Remuneration package: up to $88,465 - $105,052 p.a. (which includes a base salary Lecturer Level B $74,755 - $88,771 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation).
