Organisational liaison strategy
Objectives |
The objective of the AABS in the area of international liaison shall be pursued by the usual means of scholarly activities such as participation in conferences, symposia or colloquia, exchange of scholarly publications or of information through electronic or other means, and such other activities as the association or its elected officers shall from time to time determine.
Our primary objective is to ensure that AABS is open and accessible to anyone from around the world who is engaged in the study of Buddhism and shares our vision. In accordance with these objectives AABS seeks to
- to establish liaison with international organizations in the field of Buddhism, Asian Studies and religious studies, and provide the means whereby international contacts, collaboration and cooperation may be promoted
- foster links with academic institutions engaged in the study of Buddhism, religious studies or Asian studies worldwide
- organize and encourage research, educational activities, meetings and conferences in the field of Buddhism and related disciplines , and to publicise to the members of AABS international Conferences or symposia of which Buddhism may form a part.
- provide networking services
- encourage international scholars to join the Association as its regular members and to participate in a Collaborative Research Network that AABS proposes to establish and promote.
- provide limited travel support and facilitate the participation of scholars from low-income countries in international conferences in Australia for presentation of papers on Buddhism
- undertake any other matters appropriate to the primary and stated objective of the Association
